CANDIDATE CLOSING SOLUTIONS Negotiating the close of any deal can be the hardest part of the process. This is especially true of recruiting where the stakes can be high and top talent is in high demand. Your ability to close a top performer puts all of your recruiting skills in check. The relationship you have built with each candidate prior to the close is the key to a successful outcome. The first time you contact a potential candidate be prompt, courteous, follow-up and pay close attention to their motivations (hot buttons) to consider a career change, building trust and developing rapport is crucial in the first step. The Key is to always maintain contact in the recruiting process. This is crucial in the final negotiation. Don't relax your attention to a single candidate; even if you are 99.9% sure they will accept your offer. Remember, you've devoted a great deal of time and energy to making an offer, not to mention the cost invested and just a little more effort can make the difference. Industry statistics reveal that sometimes candidates say no. When they say it on the first call, this isn't so bad. But, when you're just about to make an offer, or have already made the offer and they say no, this could be really bad. Don't lose total hope - there are still some things you can do to try to recover from this critical event. The EMAC Group understands! Hiring Managers have already invested their time, energy and resources to; source, screen, qualify and interview potential candidates. Hiring Managers occasionally require the assistance to close a candidate, before loosing the prospect to another opportunity or worse yet a counter offer and then faced with the reality they have to start the entire tenuous process from the beginning (sourcing, screening, qualifying and interviewing an entire new group of potential candidates) until a successful hire is made. The Strategy The EMAC Group’s Candidate Closing Solutions program provides Hiring Manager with assistance on the back-end portion of the Search Process. Our clients may have already qualified the prospect, conducted a series of interviews and in many cases extended an offer. At that moment the candidate goes cold or stops returning any of the client’s calls. This makes it difficult for that hiring manager to isolate any issues or concerns and re-adjust the offer without any communication from the candidate. And then to later find that the candidate shows up working for their competitor. The Process The key to a successful recruiting strategy is a thorough understanding of the company’s culture, the specific job requirements of the position, the corporate environment and management style. Our Search Consultants interview the Hiring Managers to determine where each of their prospects is in the interview process and isolate each candidate’s motivations to consider a career move.
